Trios Ministries is a Christian nonprofit that exists to glorify God by forming believers who are grounded in Scripture, devoted to prayer, growing in Christlike character, connected in accountable community, engaged in service, and prepared to disciple others.

Why The Name Trios?
Three, made simple and reproducible
The name reflects our three-person structure. Three people create room for honest conversation, mutual encouragement, accountability, prayer, and full participation. It communicates simplicity, and simplicity is what allows discipleship to reproduce.
The goal is never merely to gather groups of three. It is to form relationships that help people follow Jesus and disciple others.

What we believe
Statement of faith
A ministry engaged in close spiritual formation should be clear about its convictions. This is a summary; a fuller version can be adopted by the ministry's leadership.
Scripture. The Bible is the inspired, authoritative Word of God, our final rule for faith and life.
The Trinity. One God eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ. Fully God and fully man, born of a virgin, who lived without sin, died for our sins, and rose bodily from the dead.
Humanity and sin. All people are made in God's image and all have sinned, needing salvation they cannot earn.
Salvation. By grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, not by works, secured by His death and resurrection.
The Holy Spirit. Indwells believers, gives new life, and empowers growth in holiness and witness.
The Church. The body of Christ, called to worship, discipleship, and mission in the world.
Discipleship and mission. Every believer is called to follow Christ and to help make disciples of all nations.
The return of Christ. Jesus will return to judge the living and the dead and to make all things new.
Resurrection and eternal life. The dead will be raised, and those in Christ will dwell with Him forever.
Our approach to Scripture
Careful with the text, warm with people
Trios teaches an inductive way of reading the Bible: observe carefully what the text says, interpret it in its context, then apply it in obedience. Members learn to handle Scripture faithfully rather than settle for surface impressions.
Where it helps, participants are introduced to the value of the original languages and sound interpretation, so that formation is anchored in what the Bible actually teaches, not merely in feeling or opinion.

Our Story
How Trios began
Trios Ministries began with a desire to help men move beyond simply attending church or a small group to becoming intentional disciples of Jesus Christ. After years of leading and mentoring men, John Lee saw the need for a smaller, more personal setting where men could grow through Scripture, prayer, accountability, and honest relationships. That vision took shape through the first few Trios, small groups of three men committed to walking closely with Christ and helping one another become disciple-makers. What began with just a few men became the foundation for Trios Ministries and a larger calling: to make, mature, and multiply disciples who follow Jesus wholeheartedly, invest their lives in others, and carry the Great Commission from one generation to the next.
Current Leadership
Dr. John J. Lee
Co-Founder & Executive Director
Dr. John J. Lee is committed to helping men make, mature, and multiply disciples of Jesus Christ through Scripture, prayer, accountability, and intentional relationships. John’s background includes church-planting, missions, university faculty & leadership, as well as leadership roles in AI and cloud computing. Drawing on both his ministry and professional experience, he founded Trios to create a simple, relational approach to discipleship that develops spiritually mature men who are equipped to disciple others. He has B.S. in engineering from UC Berkeley, M.S. in Management from USC, M.Div. from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and Ph.D. from Talbot Theological Seminary.
Jason Tingley
Jason Tingley serves as a Ministry Leader with Trios Ministries, where he helps lead men’s Life Groups, discipleship gatherings, retreats, and fellowship events designed to build authentic Christian brotherhood. An Orange County entrepreneur and business leader with decades of executive and organizational leadership experience, Jason brings a practical, relational approach to serving and developing people. He has a particular passion for creating an environment where men feel welcomed, can be honest about their lives, and develop meaningful relationships centered on Christ. Together with his wife, Christine, Jason has been actively involved in serving at Mariners Church and is committed to helping men move beyond casual fellowship toward deeper faith, accountability, and a life of following Jesus together.
